Faversham Strike Force FC’s coaches edged their counterparts from Faversham Town 3-2 in a charity football match that raised £725 for Demelza House last Wednesday (27 September).

In the annual Salters Lane fixture it was Faversham Town who raced into a two-goal lead thanks to a penalty and a neat counter attack culminating in a clinical finish.

Strike Force responded well and Wayne Hudson’s smart finish at the back post narrowed the margin. Moments later Town could have restored their advantage, again from the penalty spot, but this time it was saved by Force keeper, Tyler Griffiths.

The second half was dominated by Strike Force and they drew level through Lee Suter, whose cross-shot from a short corner found the back of the net. Strike Force went close to taking the lead when Brad Maguire hit the crossbar before a superb move saw Lee Love cross to the back post for Gary Axford to head home and complete the comeback.

Strike Force Club Manager Gary Axford said: “As coaches we love putting our boots back on and even more so for a fantastic cause in Demelza. The game is always competitive but played in the right spirit and thank you to everyone who took part.”
