Match Report

Strike Force recorded a third consecutive victory on Sunday when they travelled to Margate, recording a 3-0 in the Kent Youth League. The game started at a frenetic pace and the hosts were pressing with their direct style of play and were denied by the organised back four of Strike Force. As the half wore on, Strike Force took more control in midfield and after some fine link up play, John Williamson was fouled 25 yards out. Craig Appleby stepped up and struck the free kick over the wall and into the left hand corner to give Strike Force a little more confidence.

As the half wore on, Romeen Gurung was denied by a good low save and and after a flurry of corners that didn't quite come to anything. It remained 1-0 at half time.

After half time, Strike Force hit another gear as they immediately set about playing a higher tempo and more composed style. Not long after this, chances developed and when the visitors broke forward, again they were brought down outside the area and this time Zac Benfield took control of the free kick and like before half time, the result was the same as the ball found the far left corner and left the keeper well beaten.

Margate did come close to a goal but were denied as Tomasso Vitiello tracked back and cleared the ball when a goal looked imminent.with a few moments left, Strike Force sealed the victory when the ball down the left hand channel found Ben Treacher, he dribbled past one and then fired across the keeper and into the bottom corner for his third goal in as many games.

After the game Manager Mike Juden said "We didn't quite start the game how we had in previous weeks and it showed as we gave up possession too easily and gave Margate options going forward. As the half went on and we got the goal, we settled and at half time we discussed how we were playing and what we needed to do differently. Credit to the lads, they went up a couple of gears after this and we began dominating possession and our movement off the ball too was a lot better. We have been working on this a lot so it is always nice when it shows in a game."
